Step-by-Step: How to Polish Concrete Floors
1️⃣ Initial Grind – Exposing the Aggregate
For full aggregate exposure, we start with 25g metal bond diamonds at slow speed in both directions. The goal is even exposure across the floor with no low spots.
Pro Tip: Vacuum thoroughly after each stage – leftover dust can cause scratches later.
2️⃣ Refinement with 50g Metals
We move to 50g metals to remove the coarse scratches from the first stage. If you’re aiming for a salt & pepper finish, this is your starting grit.
3️⃣ Grouting (Optional but Recommended)
We use Metzger McGuire SRG to fill pinholes, cracks, and small defects. This produces a denser, more uniform surface. After application, we regrind with the same grit to blend it seamlessly.
4️⃣ Ceramic Transitionals
Switch to Boride 100g ceramics to refine the surface and remove any visible metal scratches, prepping the floor for resin polishing.
5️⃣ Densifying – Strength & Clarity
